Javier is general partner at Fenway Summer where he invests in early stage companies innovating at the intersection of finance and technology. He is also Board Member of SupportPay, Trustee of Pan American Development Foundation, Board Member of Harvard's Rock Center for Entrepreneurship, and Mentor at Techstars. Prior to Fenway, President Obama appointed him as SBA Associate Administrator, Chief of Investment & Innovation. The programs he led have invested $120 billion in 320,000 high-growth businesses and he held a seat on the SEC's Committee on Small & Emerging Companies. Before public service, he spent 20+ years around the world in investing, operating, entrepreneurial and advisory roles. He has worked at organizations that include McKinsey & Co, Bridgewater Associates, Abbott Labs, Pacific Community Ventures, Booz | Allen | Hamilton, GEM Group and Paradigm Ventures. He has co-founded several companies, including Air America Media. He holds an MBA from Harvard, MS from IIT and BS from Purdue.
